Tom’s Targets Hardox / AR500 Steel Shooting Targets are suitable for all firearms except 50 calibre and above.

MATERIAL – 10.00mm thick Hardox 500 abrasion-resistant steel, with a nominal hardness of 500 HBW with guaranteed impact toughness!

AR500 steel is exactly the same as Hardox 500 steel – it is simply a name. The crucial part is the 500 section as this dictates the Brinell hardness – this is what stops the bullet piercing the plate! This hardened grade of steel plate can only be processed using a CNC plasma table and associated cutter, due to the hardness of the material.

Please note the steel shooting targets and stands do not come powder coated as standard.

Price includes 5-7 day FREE UK DELIVERY (For overseas please email for delivery costs)

All sizes quoted are approximate (for example The 100mm Gong Measures 103mm x 103mm).
All targets have minimum 10mm diameter holes.

BE SAFE:

Please use Hardox shooting targets safely, observe all safety rules and guidelines, keep a safe distance from the target.

Why Hardox?

There is a significant difference between Hardox AR 500 hardened steel targets and mild steel targets. Tom’s Targets has carried out it’s own testing.

Targets:
Orange – Hardox 500 10mm Steel Plate
Blue – Mild Steel 10mm Steel Plate
Distance: 100 metres
Ammunition: 6.5 x 55, 140 grain.
Energy: 2550 fps

The Results:

The Hardox Ar 500 plate was not penetrated. The bullet made a minor indentation to the plate surface, the orange powder coating was vaporized by the bullet splattering on the plate surface. The integrity of the plate remained relatively unchanged.

The mild steel plate was extensively penetrated almost completely by the bullet leaving sharp swarf on perimeter of penetration.

Conclusion:
The mild steel target would soon fail after repeated use
The Hardox target will remain easy to paint and reusable
